Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we're asked most.

Getting started

Is FarmFlow free to use?

Yes. Creating an account, browsing, messaging, and listing items are all free. Optional extras — like boosted listings and the Verified Seller Programme — are paid, but nothing about everyday buying and selling costs anything.

Which islands does FarmFlow cover?

FarmFlow serves farmers, vendors and buyers across the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and Guyana. Listings are organised by island and town, so you'll always see how far away an item is.

What kind of produce can I find on FarmFlow?

Everything from ground provisions — yam, cassava, dasheen, sweet potato — to callaloo, scotch bonnet peppers, plantain, breadfruit, herbs, homemade preserves and more. Browse the full list on our produce page.

What currency are prices listed in?

Sellers set their own prices in their local currency — Jamaican dollars (JMD), Trinidad & Tobago dollars (TTD), Barbadian dollars (BBD), Eastern Caribbean dollars (EC$), Guyanese dollars (GYD), and others across the region. Currency is shown on the listing itself.

Can I browse without an account?

Yes — choose "Continue as guest" on the welcome screen to browse listings. You'll need an account to message sellers, save favourites, or list items of your own.

Selling

How do I become a seller?

Any registered user can sell. From the app:

  • Tap the + button and choose "Create listing".
  • Add photos, a title, price, quantity, and the listing's town.
  • Publish. Your listing goes live once it passes moderation checks.

Before your first listing, read the Prohibited Items Policy — some categories are restricted.

How do I become a Verified Seller?

Verified Seller status unlocks restricted categories such as agricultural machinery, livestock, and meat. It involves identity verification plus category-specific documents (for example, dealer registration with your national agricultural authority, or livestock traceability enrolment). Fees apply per category.

Full requirements and how to apply are on the Verified Seller Programme page.

What is a boosted listing?

Boosts give a listing extra visibility for a set period. Boosts are arranged directly with the FarmFlow team rather than purchased inside the app — contact us and we'll set you up. Boost credit appears in your seller account once arranged.

Why was my listing removed?

Listings are removed when they breach our Community Guidelines or Prohibited Items Policy — most commonly restricted items listed without verification, misleading photos, or duplicate posts. You'll receive a notification explaining why, and you can appeal through the app or by contacting support.

Payments & safety

Does FarmFlow handle payments between buyers and sellers?

No. FarmFlow connects buyers and sellers; the transaction itself happens between you, usually in person. We never ask you to pay for goods through the app, and you should treat any request to do so as a scam. See our Safety Tips.

How do I report a suspicious listing or user?

Every listing and chat has a report option in its overflow menu. Reports are reviewed by human moderators. For urgent issues, contact support directly.

Your account & data

How do I stop marketing emails?

Marketing emails are only sent if you opted in. Turn them off any time in Settings → Notifications in the app, or use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email. Service emails (like security notices) are separate and always sent.

How do I delete my account?

From the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Or from this website — no app needed: Delete My Account & Data. Deletion is permanent.

Why does FarmFlow ask for my location?

We use your device's approximate location once, to suggest your nearest town — we never track you or store precise coordinates. You can skip this and pick your town manually. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

What happens to the photos I upload?

Your photo is resized and re-encoded on your own phone before it is uploaded, so a smaller image than your camera produced is what leaves your device. Re-encoding also strips the hidden details photo files usually carry — the date and time, your phone model, and any GPS coordinates of where the picture was taken. Only the picture itself is stored.

We create a small preview of every listing photo automatically, so browsing uses less of your mobile data; the full image downloads only when someone opens the listing.

Delete a listing and its photo goes with it straight away. If a listing expires and you don't renew it, we keep the photo for 90 days so you can bring the listing back, then delete it. Uploading a new profile photo replaces the old one, which is deleted — we don't keep a history. Full details are in section 3 of our Privacy Policy.
