Yam

Yellow yam and negro yam — a Caribbean ground-provisions staple.

Yam is one of the most widely grown ground provisions in the Caribbean. Jamaica alone has an estimated 28,000 yam farmers, concentrated in St. Elizabeth — often called the island's "breadbasket parish" — though yam is grown and traded across the region.
